Shake Up Your Wake Up
This week is Farmhouse Breakfast Week with the HGCA www.shakeupyourwakeup.com. We love our breakfasts at Washingpool – the Farmer’s Kitchen (our restaurant) serves great breakfasts seven days a week using our own sausages, local bacon, Dorset mushrooms, bread from Evershot Bakery and other great ingredients. In the shop we sell locally made cereals, granola, bacon, eggs, bread, croissants, yoghurt, sausages, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fruit, the list is endless! To celebrate our local producers we have organised a Breakfast tasting (see Events page) this Wednesday, and to honour Robert Burns’ birthday we will have a real life Bagpiper piping in the Haggis at 1pm (this also serves as a warning to those who would prefer not to be here at 1pm! NB I love pipes!). What better way to spend a Wednesday morning in January!
On another note – Washingpool Farm will be on ITV’s The Hungry Sailors today at 4pm (or you can catch it on ITVPlayer online). Looking forward to seeing lots of Bridport and West Bay (we hope!).
Friday night is food night!
We are really looking forward to this Friday 2nd December. We will be opening until 8.00pm with some fantastic producers joing us from 6.00pm. Amazing smoked fish from Brown and Forrest, award-winning wine from our local vineyard (yes – excellent wine made three miles away -really), beautiful tartlets from Manna Organic and a selection of cheeses courtesy of Longmans in Somerset. On top of that we will be providing complimentary mulled apple juice and mince pies. What’s not to like!
Cookery Classes
We have some fabulous cookery classes coming up, starting with Festive Party Snacks with The Dorset Foodie (aka Christine McFadden) on December 3rd. The classes are on a Sunday afternoon so a perfect excuse to leave the ironing and washing up to your better half and have an inspiring time! The classes are hands-on and the price includes ingredients, equipment and aprons as well as recipes and ideas to take home. They can also be purchased as a gift for Christmas. See the events page for more details.
Taste of the West Awards 2011
We had a great day at the Eden Project for the Taste of the West Awards 2011 yesterday. We won Best Local Retail Outlet for the fourth time in five years – thank you! Well done to Denhay Farms (Best of Bacon) and Clipper Teas (Best of Non-alcoholic Drinks) who we stock, and to all winners yesterday. Dartmoor Farmers were inspirational as well. http://bit.ly/uwwI9T
